Recently nominated for the NFL’s Fan of the Year award, Pena, who works in construction, has turned his Niners love into a clothing business and a budding rap career, and he's also honored the team with a prosthetic eyeball adorned with the Niners' logo. That level of dedication began at a very young age.
“My first memories were at 5 years old; every Sunday with my dad, we would watch Niners games on TV with a bowl of cornflakes. I’ve been a Niners fan ever since,” says Pena, who closed on a new home in Manteca the same day his Fan of the Year nomination was announced.Pena’s vision problems began at 8 years old.
about Pena made him locally famous, and while at a tailgate listening to the song “Eye of the Tiger,” a friend gave him the nickname “Eye of the Niner,” which ended up becoming Pena's rap moniker.But before he got into music in mid-2022, Pena’s early pandemic project was a 49ers-themed clothing brand called. He posted a design to Facebook, and within a month, he’d sold 400 shirts, earning about $47,000 in profit in 2020.
Last year, the clothing brand was put on pause so Pena could begin working on music. A hip-hop producer friend named Dell G. called Pena asking for leads on some Niners rappers for a compilation album. After making introductions, Dell G. asked Pena to contribute as well. Pena, who rapped in high school but otherwise had little musical experience, cites E-40 and Mac Dre as his primary influences.
