Angel Mercado-Ocasio, 19, died Tuesday, May 23, 2023, a day after a makeshift dugout collapsed on him at a Harrisburg city park. The dugout was constructed by the coach of the recreational baseball team on which the teen was going to play this summer. During the school year, he played on Central Penn College's team. Angel Mercado-Ocasio wanted to play baseball since he was big enough to hold a bat.
The 19-year-old was a second baseman for Central Penn College and was going to play over the summer on Harrisburg’s team in the East Shore Twilight Baseball League.
