Balenciaga and Lays Potato Chip collaboration debuts a bag that reportedly costs $1,800

Plano-based Frito-Lay is known for its unique partnerships, such as a luxury leather handbag from Balenciaga that looks like a potato chip bag.Models of Balenciaga strut through a runway of mud sporting mesh blouses and long leather skirts. But clutched tightly at each of the models’ sides is a familiar but unusual sight for the occasion: a bag of Lay’s potato chips.The luxury Spanish fashion house known for its subversive designs partnered with Plano-based Frito-Lay to create the leather bag.
The bag, ornamented with Lay’s iconic yellow and red, is reportedly set to retail for $1,800, according to HypeBeast. That’s a steep difference from the potato chips’ usual $4 price tag. The lined leather bag is finished with a simple silver zip closure and will come in at least four flavors, including original, flamin’ hot, limón and salt & vinegar. The design is altered to display the Balenciaga branding.Balenciaga’s creative director Demna Gvasalia shared a close-up of the bag on Instagram.
