Baidu stock jumps 15% as the Chinese internet giant says it's readying its answer to ChatGPT
Baidu plans to make Ernie available as a standalone application first and gradually merge it into its search engine by incorporating chatbot-generated results when users make search requests.
ERNIE bot is the latest in a flurry of AI tools to hit the market in response to huge hype around OpenAI's ChatGPT, with Baidu's competitor Google announcing, a chatbot which is expected to be made available to the public in a few weeks. ChatGPT is not available in China though, giving Baidu a clearer run at market compared with US companies.
