An investigation into the theft is ongoing, and it was not immediately known how much money was stolen from the vehicle.
San Francisco police on Friday were investigating a security car robbery that occurred in the Union Square area.
Officers were called about 3 p.m. on Thursday to the area of Fifth and Market streets on reports of the robbery and made contact with two victims who identified themselves as employees of a"monetary security and courier service," SFPD Officer Niccole Pacchetti told The Examiner. The two told police they were in the area and had"exited their vehicle for a brief period of time" before they returned, noticed that a door on the vehicle had been left open and discovered at least one bag containing money had been stolen from within, according to the SFPD.
