NEW: Avalanche coach Jared Bednar maintains Valeri Nichushkin’s absence not disciplinary in light of police report

SEATTLE — Avalanche coach Jared Bednar said the team is still not considering Valeri Nichushkin’s absence disciplinary in light of the release of a police report revealing Nichushkin’s involvement in an incident at the Avalanche team hotel last Saturday.

Bednar said there is still no timeline for Nichushkin’s return. He declined to comment on a series of questions from reporters after Colorado’s morning skate Friday. He declined to say whether Nichushkin’s departure was related to the police incident, and he declined to share whose decision it was for Nichushkin to leave Seattle that day.

Then if the absence is purely due to personal reasons, Bednar was asked, why would Nichushkin not be able to return to the team at any point soon?
