Authorities on Monday arrested a 38-year-old Aurora man accused of singing battle hymns during the Jan. 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol and leading a group toward a violent fight between rioters and police defending the Senate chamber.

Cain is among the 55 Ohioans charged in the U.S. Department of Justice’s investigation into the attack. More than 1,000 people have been charged in the case, with some 300The FBI used surveillance cameras and videos from Cain’s phone and the phones of other rioters to identify him. Eleven people sent tips people to the FBI that fingered Cain as the person depicted in photos and videos from the riot, according to court records.
Cain marched to the Capitol with hundreds of others and walked into the building through the Senate Wing door while filming a first-person video on his phone and narrating his journey. As he walked around the rotunda, Cain compared himself and others inside the building to the patriots who fought in the Revolutionary War.
Cain led a group of rioters to the Senate wing, singing battle hymns. When they arrived, a large group was already fighting with Washington D.C. Metropolitan police officers who were guarding the Senate chambers. Cain said he believed the election was stolen from Trump and that Biden was a “commie agent” and “lived in his basement.”FBI agents interviewed Cain twice for about two hours, once on Feb. 5, 2021 and once on May 3, 2022.
