The San Francisco Giants lured longtime Astros executive Pete Putila away from Houston, throwing the team's front office into more uncertainty on the eve of its latest playoff push. The Giants hired Putila as their general manager late Monday night, taking away an instrumental part of the team's front office and player development infrastructure.

Putila had been with the Astros since 2011, when former general manager Ed Wade hired him as a baseball operations intern. His tenure spanned three general managers — Wade, Jeff Luhnow and James Click.More Astros News
