Corey Julks has started 40 of the Astros’ 78 games in left field.

LOS ANGELES — After starting the Dodgers’ first inning with a home run Friday, Mookie Betts threatened to repeat the feat Saturday. Betts drove Ronel Blanco’s second pitch deep to left field. Statcast deemed it a home run in 23 of 30 major-league ballparks.

“That was my first time actually robbing a home run,” Julks said Sunday afternoon. “I’ve had a few plays against the wall. But actually robbing a home run, that was my first time.” Julks’ bat garnered more attention than his glove in the minors. He hit 31 home runs for Triple-A Sugar Land last season. That aspect has been tested. Julks entered Sunday with a .253 average and .683 OPS over his first 58 major-league games.
