The Astros will be looking for a new manager for Class AA Corpus Christi after Gregorio Petit, who led the Hooks the past two seasons, opted to leave for a job in the Oakland system.Gregorio Petit, a former Astros player who managed Class AA Corpus Christi for the past two seasons, left the organization this winter to manage the Oakland A's Class A team in 2023.
The A's announced Petit's hire Tuesday morning along with their entire player development staff. Petit made his major league debut for Oakland in 2008, the first of six teams in Petit's six-year career. Houston hired Petit to manage the Hooks prior to the 2020 minor league season, which was later canceled because of the coronavirus pandemic. He had no coaching experience beforehand.
It's unclear who will replace Petit as Class AA Corpus Christi's manager or if other Astros minor league managers took other jobs this offseason. The team, which is currently operating without a general manager, refused to make any of its three assistant general managers available for comment during FanFest last weekend.
