McCormick is eligible to come off the injured list Tuesday, the night of the second game of the series against the American League-leading Tampa Bay Rays. "He's doing better," Astros manager Dusty Baker said before Friday's game against the Braves."I can tell by his spirit level that he's doing better."

In 11 games played this season, which included nine starts in center field and two in left field, McCormick was batting .275 with an .883 OPS, five extra-base hits and four stolen bases. Jake Meyers has started every game in center field since McCormick was shelved. Entering Friday’s game, Meyers was 5-for-17 to raise his season average to .222.
