The fire department ordered the suite’s two residents removed because “the suite is not fit to live in” after discovering the accumulation of animal waste. “The suite will have to be properly cleaned and sanitized as well as any other deficiencies fixed before the Fire Department will allow it to be opened again for tenants,” Raymer said.

“APSS ensures every animal receives veterinary assessment and while some animals can be rehomed, because of the conditions that the animals were kept in, there is often a need to relieve animals of distress through humane euthanasia. Euthanasia for disease control purposes is an emotional issue for everyone concerned,” he said.Article content
