Anchorage police are asking the public for help identifying the driver or vehicle that struck a pedestrian downtown last month, seriously injuring him.

Several passersby reported the crash, she said.
The man was brought to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. Oistad did not provide an update on his condition Thursday, other than to say he has not died. Police on Thursday released photos of the vehicle believed to be involved in the collision, possibly a silver Volkswagen Touareg manufactured between 2004 and 2007. There may be damage to the passenger-side mirror or the area surrounding the mirror.
