PA needs two strong parties, not to constantly fight but rather to work together, and dividing the Republican caucus into separate groups seems to be self-destructive.

I know you are obviously honored about becoming the Chair of the “Freedom Caucus” in PA. However after listening to the public statements and reading about what the new group wants to do, I must say I am not convinced the majority of Pennsylvanians want that.First, the Republicans lost 12 seats and probably their majority status in the recent election. I have heard one reason is the “Redistricting” after the 2020 census. However, to think that is the main reason, is naive.

Furthermore, since re-districting won’t happen again until after the 2030 census, it seems questionable to spend all that time fighting the new governor and his agenda. It’s a strategy that will not be popular among the majority of voters, and it could backfire. Second, and more important, the group appears to be ignoring last month’s election. If the results showed anything, voters rejected radical Republicans in Pennsylvania and across the country. Voters are saying clearly they want their elected officials to work together, to stop all the petty bickering and to get things done. Regrettably, working together doesn’t seem to be on the agenda of the new caucus.

With Republicans outnumbered by almost 2-1 in PA, it seems]a Republican caucus bent on being ”an obstacle” to progress, voter registration disparity could only get worse. We all know politics is about addition and not subtraction. Pennsylvania needs two strong parties, not to fight but to work together. Dividing the Republican caucus into separate groups, Ms. Keefer, seems to be self-destructive.If you purchase a product or register for an account through one of the links on our site, we may receive compensation.
