America needs more adoptions, less scaremongering | Opinion
Adoption doesn’t have to be perfect in order to be deeply good and socially essential. The best possible scenario, after all, is a family where mother and child both feel loved, supported and safe. Adoption provides a life-giving scenario where a woman doesn’t have to hold a positive pregnancy test with trembling hands, afraid of what her future holds.
Adoption is good because it saves lives. It offers hopeless mothers real choices about their future. It offers children who’ve suffered abuse or neglect a second chance at a stable, loving home. It offers a future for the child, mother and adoptive parents. It offers permanence and security to children whose lives are so often void of support.The EconomistFalling birth rates mean doom for our workforce and economy in the generations to come.
