[+]There are a few reasons Threadripper may not come to the desktop again though. AMD will need to step up multi-threaded performance again in the next 12 months given that Intel is slightly faster here with its Core i9-13900K and 13900KS in many applications.
Both Intel and AMD look set to aim higher as far as multi-threaded performance goes on their mainstream sockets - AMD on its new Socket AM5 platform and Intel for its next generation Meteor Lake CPUs or if they don't make it in time, a refresh of its current Raptor Lake CPUs. This would close the gap between both AMD and Intel's current workstation models potentially narrowing the potential gap for a desktop Threadripper range to sit in.
With their existing platforms supporting more bandwidth than ever as well as offering premium features such as PCIe 5.0 and USB 4/Thunderbolt 4 support, there doesn't appear to be any benefit to a Threadripper 7000 desktop platform except for bandwidth from more memory channels and PCIe lanes. The new CPUs are expected to launch some time this year, though, so we don't have too long to wait to find out.
