Alabama health officials are investigating a cluster of E. coli and Rotavirus cases.

Health officials have identified four cases of E. coli O157:H7 and two cases of Rotavirus, all in younger children. Symptoms vary but frequently include severe stomach cramps, diarrhea , vomiting and fever up to 101 degrees. Most people improve in 5-7 days of illness, but are advised to talk to their healthcare provider, especially if the person is having bloody diarrhea or are very young or elderly.

To reduce the risk of E. coli and other gastrointestinal illnesses, the Centers for Disease Control recommends:
