Mursal, 21, escaped with three friends undetected by the Taliban as they slipped into her home. Five days later, the college student and her family fled the dangers of Kabul for a journey to America for freedom and independence. Their journey included stops at Qatar, Italy and El Paso. After staying 40 days at a Texas camp, the family arrived in San Antonio.But as she committed to her studies, Mursal acclimated to her surroundings and flourished in her new home. Mursal said she works at a clinic in the resettlement community and currently attends Northwest Vista College.
