Damien Walker, 45, remains in Dallas County custody on a murder charge with a $500,000 bail.
According to the affidavit, police obtained surveillance video that showed Walker arriving at the home in a black sedan. He knocked the door and was let in by Cobbs.In an interview with police, Walker said he owned the home and was going to tell Cobbs to leave because he believed Cobbs was selling drugs out of the home. Cobbs grabbed on to him as he entered, Walker said, and he pushed him away.
After the exchange, Walker drew his gun and shot Cobbs once. He told officers that Cobbs fell to the floor and began to “move around like he was searching for something.” Believing that Cobbs was reaching for a weapon, Walker said he fired the gun until it was empty, according to the affidavit. Walker told police he never saw Cobbs with a weapon, and police found no weapons near Cobbs.In a separate room, officers wrote in the affidavit, they found a tan firearm in the home. Walker suffered no injuries when Cobbs grabbed onto him, the affidavit said.
About 10 minutes after he arrived at the east Oak Cliff home, he left with his girlfriend. Police later found him at his home and took him into custody, the affidavit said.
