“The writing was very clearly on the wall that this energy transition was happening,” Hubbard said. “Because our advisory firm was so close to the capital market, we saw this coming very early and made a strategic business and personal decision as the founders of this business. It’s something to be proud of while simultaneously recognizing that it was the economically viable thing to do for the business because it’s where all the markets were headed.
“Adding a sequestration element onto these fuels is the fastest, most logical way to decarbonize this particular sector, and quite frankly many of them,” Hubbard said. Nexus also hopes to expand its advisory services into the corporate and Fortune 500 sectors. Now that winners are emerging among innovator companies, Hubbard said, larger companies can adopt what works.
“Instead of going to a development company saying ‘Hey, we’ll help you scale,’ it’s going to a corporate saying, ‘Hey, we know what things are working.’”
