“I knew he was struggling, and I tried everything to help him,” she said.
He was found dead in a bathtub at his California home on Saturday. A cause of death has yet to be determined.
Speaking out following the devastating news, Martin — who shares 11-month-old son Prince with the late singer — said she knew he was “struggling” in the lead-up to his death. “My heart is completely broken over the passing of my fiancé Aaron. I knew he was struggling, and I tried everything to help him,” the model, 30, told“He has a very independent and strong personality, and I couldn’t help him in the way I felt he needed it.”
Aaron Carter, 34, struggled in his relationship with Melanie Martin, 30. In 2020, prior to their engagement, Martin was arrested on domestic violence charges.“I only wish I had more people to help me with him. I will now be raising our son as a single mother and this is the worst day of my life, but I have to be strong for our son. I’m devastated,” she added.
