Monessen has a long history and reputation of being a great sports town, excelling in all areas of sports, but especially football!

Since 1950, exceptional athletes, sports writers, and coaches have been bestowed with the honor of being inducted into the Mid Mon Valley Sports Hall of Fame! Their annual banquet, which was thwarted by the COVID Pandemic for two years, was finally held on June 17, 2022.
The Friday night lights will soon be shining bright again at the Monessen Memorial Stadium. With excitement and anticipation in the air, the Greyhounds will compete and bring about a resurgence of the popular sport that Monessen was once known for dominating. It’s time for high school football, again!
