Lt.-Gov. Russ Mirasty, along with wife Donna, met with King Charles III on Tuesday at Buckingham Palace.

Mirasty, who was sworn in as Saskatchewan’s 23rd lieutenant governor in July 2019, was never granted an audience with Queen Elizabeth II due to the COVID-19 pandemic and then her death in September 2022. Amid pomp and pageantry, King Charles and wife Camilla were crowned at London’s Westminster Abbey on May 6 in Britain’s biggest ceremonial event in seven decades. According to the province, they also told King Charles that a donation has been made by the Saskatchewan government in the name of the King to the Embracing Life Initiative. The program is an affiliation of agencies, tribal councils and community youth mentors whose aim is to decrease incidents of self-harm and suicide among northern Saskatchewan youth.
