Three men have been charged with murder in the killing of a San Leandro resident found dead in unincorporated Alameda County.
OAKLAND — In September 2021, the body of a 37-year-old San Leandro man was found bound and gagged with duct tape, ratchet straps, rope, and cloth along a section of Redwood Road in Castro Valley.
Bryan Wu, 32, Kevin Woodruff, 34, and Richardo Onteveros, also known as Steve Hanna, were charged with kidnapping and murdering Benjamin Hemmann. The charging records allege Hemmann was killed during the course of a kidnapping but don’t specify how he died. “The detectives worked that case for several months and were ultimately able to solve it with a lot of follow up and good investigative work,” Kelly said.
