The MCU has always thrived on playing the long game. It's doing it again in the Multiverse Saga, meaning Phase 5 will have some disappointing truths.
Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase 5 is facing some very harsh truths on the heels of a divisive Phase 4. The MCU is at the center of tackling the Multiverse Saga, with various projects directly setting up the upcoming culmination of the narrative. Loki, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and Spider-Man: No Way Home delved deeper into the idea of the multiverse. Meanwhile, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania officially debuted the Multiverse Saga's big bad — Kang the Conqueror.
7 Phase 5 Truly Ends The Infinity Saga Avengers: Endgame officially marked the end of the Infinity Saga, with Spider-Man: Far From Home functioning as somewhat of an epilogue. Phase 4 was the MCU's transition and rebuilding period, while Phase 5 sets up the big narrative beats of the Multiverse Saga. That being said, James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 feels like the true end of the Infinity Saga.
Loki season 2 is the only MCU Phase 5 project that will directly tackle the Multiverse Saga. The God of Mischief's next mission will see him re-teaming with Mobius as they delve deeper into learning more about He Who Remains' revelations about the multiverse. In the Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania stinger, the dynamic duo will track down Kang variant, Victor Timely.
4 MCU Phase 5's Kang Setup Is A Problem On the heels of his official debut as Kang the Conqueror in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Jonathan Majors was expected to be featured more frequently in the MCU as Marvel Studios established him as the Multiverse Saga's next big bad.
