Five takeaways from Phoenix's bounce back win Sunday over New York as the Suns face the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday at Footprint Center.

Phoenix rediscovered its defense in Sunday’s 116-95 victory over New York before a sellout crowd of 17,071 at Footprint Center.

All five starters reached double figures Sunday as the Suns lead by many as 26 points. Damion Lee scored 15 off the bench, Torrey Craig went for 14 and Mikal Bridges and Deandre Ayton each added 13. Payne is a key piece for this team, but Williams knows Paul has missed more than his share of games in his career. He’s been sidelined in Phoenix’s last six with what has to be more than a sore right heel.

This was clearly a point of emphasis going into the game to the point Williams think his players came out with attention to detail to “shut him up.”The game was tied 60-60 after Knicks guard Quentin Grimes scored, but the Suns responded with a 14-5 run, forcing a New York timeout with six minutes left in the quarter.Ayton finished with 13 points and 11 rebounds in posting a second straight double-double. The Suns destroyed the Knicks on the glass, 59-39, as they grabbed 18 offensive boards.
