Five people were sent to local hospitals after a building collapsed Friday evening in Newark, officials said.
The collapse happened shortly after 6 p.m. at a building at South Pine Lane, a Newark Housing Authority property, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé told NJ Advance Media. Firefighters located six injured people with one refusing medical attention, Fragé said.
