Here are the five biggest reasons Fall 2 cannot be a direct sequel to 2022’s Fall and why it should start afresh with a new story and characters.
In light of the announcement of a second Fall film in talks, there are several reasons why Fall 2 cannot be a direct sequel to 2022’s Fall. On the heels of Fall’s success, the sequel would surely always happen. But its ability to directly follow the first film's events seems minimal.
Each area of the upper tower was intensely utilized. Of the upper ladder, the lower half collapsed dramatically, the pizza-shaped platform at the top proved to be the main stage on which most of the film’s events would take place, and Becky even climbed the antenna pole at a certain point to charge the drone with the light source at the very top.
Due to its simplicity, no question marks linger over the ending of Fall. It was wrapped up nicely with Hunter’s philosophical voice-over at the end, right before the closing credits, summarizing the very message of the film. With no open doors left from the original Fall’s story, a new plot is required for the sequel, which should avoid directly continuing from previous events.
2 Fall 2 Doesn't Have Many Supporting Characters To Develop Fall features only a few locations, with almost all of the film being set on the TV tower. There are also very few characters in the movie, with only Dan , Becky’s Dad, and the diner waitress posing as supporting characters. Because Becky’s dad has little going on with their character, there is nothing else to develop about their motivations and drives.
