Rent growth has plummeted to a two-year low as inflation continues to cool — and apartments in these 38 cities are getting more affordable fastest

But affordability is still an issue, with rent as expensive as ever.Rent rose at its slowest rate in over two years in the heart of the busy summer moving season, according to a report from online rental platform Zumper.

Still, it's worth noting that rent remains at record highs and likely will for the foreseeable future, as a drop in price growth simply means that costs are still increasing — just at a slower rate. While rent growth is modest compared to the double-digit rates of 2022, renters are contending with an affordability crisis, Zumper's researchers noted.have put ownership out of reach for many, and those that could buy are hesitant due to mixed signals in the economy.
