Update: Officials are searching for four people -- including a 9-month-old child -- after flooding in Bucks County. Three people are already confirmed to have died.
Three people have been confirmed dead and search and rescue teams are searching for at least four more -- including a 9-month-old baby -- after severe flooding in the Washington Crossing area Saturday.
On Sunday morning, Tim Brewer, Upper Makefield fire chief, provided an update saying that officials have been working to find four people still missing after a torrential downpour caused flooding in the area on Saturday night.At approximately 5:30 p.m. rains in Upper Makefield Township in Bucks County near the Washington Crossing area, caused flooding that swept three cars away.Sign up for NBC Philadelphia newsletters.
When emergency personnel arrived in the area they found several vehicles in high water and rescue attempts started to extract drivers and passengers from vehicles, officials said. Two women and a man were all found dead outside of their cars near Washington Crossing Road, officials confirmed. According to Brewer, about 100 people were actively searching for those still missing, though, he warned that the search had shifted from a rescue to a recovery mode.
