UPDATE: An NYPD official told The Daily Beast the officers had arrived at the scene after an off-duty corrections officer asked for help with her son, who then “fired on them without warning with her gun.”
Two police officers were shot in Harlem on Friday night, the latest in a string of attacks on officers in New York City. One officer, age 22, died while the other, age 27, remains in “extremely critical condition,” per an NYPD official.At least three officers were responding to a domestic violence call when the gunfire erupted.
The officers were taken to Harlem Hospital for treatment. Mayor Eric Adams met NYPD officers there for a briefing, coming directly from a vigil for an 11-month-old girl who was struck in the face by a stray bullet earlier in the week.
