UPDATE: 2 Injured, Roads Blocked as Emergency Crews Respond to Fire at Lemont Petroleum Plant
Emergency crews are responding to an incident at a petroleum chemical plant in unincorporated Lemont following reports of a possible explosion, officials have confirmed.
According to officials, firefighters were responding to the Seneca Petroleum Company located at 12460 New Ave. At least two people people were injured in the incident, sources have confirmed to NBC 5. The Lemont Fire District around 10 a.m. posted an update to Twitter and Facebook calling the event an"active incident," and have asked people in the area to avoid New Avenue at 127th Street.Get Chicago local news, weather forecasts, sports and entertainment stories to your inbox."Northbound New Ave and High Road are both closed at 135th St. .
