The fatal collision was reported shortly after 4:30 a.m. on Sunday. When officers arrived at 755 S. Redwood Road, they found an injured, 59-year-old man on the ground. Despite life-saving efforts, he died at the scene.

When officers arrived, they found the bicyclist injured on the ground. First responders provided medical attention, but the man died at the scene. He was identified Tuesday afternoon as Juan Mucino. Police announced Tuesday that the 19-year-old had turned himself in. After, investigators were able to locate the SUV they believe was involved in the fatal crash. No further information was released Tuesday.

Detectives are working with the Salt Lake County district attorney’s office “to file the appropriate charges,” police said. The Salt Lake Tribune generally does not name defendants unless they have been charged with a crime. July 11, 5:30 p.m.: The story has been updated to correct the age of the man who was killed. Police originally said he was 59.
