were called Wednesday for a man in cardiac arrest with a snake wrapped around his neck and shot the snake dead, according to a news release.
Upper Macungie Township police say in the release they responded to the call about 2:10 p.m. at a home in the 1400 block of Church Street in Fogelsville. Officers found a 28-year-old Fogelsville resident unresponsive and lying on the floor “with the mid portion of a large snake wrapped around” his neck, the release states.
The snake was so big — estimated at more than 15 feet — one of the officers was able to shoot it in the head without risking further injury to the man, according to the release. “Once the snake was injured from the gunshot, the officers were able to pull the male to safety, at which time emergency medical care was provided,” the release continues. “The victim in this case was transported to a local hospital for further treatment.”Centronia EMS and the Upper Macungie Township Bureau of Fire assisted police on the call.
