One of the biggest plot twists ofis Hopper's fate — after the Gate opened by the Russians was closed by Eleven and destroyed by Joyce in, Hopper was believed to be killed by the blast. But lo and behold, he survived, and was subsequently captured and imprisoned by the Russians. While in prison, Hopper learns that the Russians have also captured a Demogorgon. Prisoners are forced to fight against it, which Hopper believes is a strategy to feed the monster and sharpen its attacking skills.
At the start of Season 4, the status of Jonathan and Nancy's long-distance relationship is questioned by Nancy's school newspaper editor FredJonathan's new California bro Argyle. Both Jonathan and Nancy reveal that they're a bit frustrated with the distance, but Nancy tells Fred that it will all be OK once they attend the same college together in a matter of months.
