1-year-old girl dies after being hit by suspected DUI driver [Breaking]
A 1-year-old girl died after she was hit by a SUV driven by suspected DUI driver in City Heights Saturday evening, authorities said.
The child walked into Redwood Street near 39th Street just before 6:45 p.m when she was struck by a SUV heading east on Redwood. The driver fled after the collision, police said. A witness to the crash provided license plate information on the suspect’s 1999 Toyota 4Runner to police and officers arrested a man at his home on suspicion of driving under the influence and hit and run. No other information about the driver was immediately released.The child suffered head injuries and was rushed to the hospital but she did not survive her injuries, police said. Her name was not released.
