TRAFFIC ALERT: A truck overturned on an I-805 ramp in Clairemont, spilling bags of concrete over the railing and killing a person in an SUV below.
The fatal wreck occurred shortly before 1 p.m. on the southbound side of the freeway, near state Route 52, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The pickup truck was on a transition ramp when it tipped over, CHP said. A pellet fell off the truck and items onto a dark SUV on the freeway below. Video from SkyRanger 7 showed the truck flipped on a transition ramp with materials scattered around. The accident forced a closure of the southbound I-805 connector to eastbound SR-52, Caltrans advised. Traffic was being diverted to SR-52 westbound.This is a developing story.
