Houston police investigate a shooting in the 1300 block of Chartres in East Downtown on Tuesday, April 11, 2023.on an East Downtown street, according to the Houston Police Department.
Erick Aguirre, 29, has been charged with murder on suspicion of fatally shooting Elliot Nix, 46, officials said. Aguirre was arrested in Aransas County and extradited to Houston Tuesday. The shooting happened in the 1300 block of Chartres, a street that runs parallel to Interstate 69, near Discovery Green and Shell Energy Stadium.
Police said Nix had been riding a bicycle south when he got into a fight with another person, which eventually escalated to the fatal shooting.
